Website Help
~Let your freak flag fly~
Need a trading site? In exchange for some boots, I'll help you set-up your site. Please email me for more information. I can provide sites I've worked on in the past and help you come up with something functional for yourself.

I will help you choose a website builder that is best for your needs. Read below to view my opinions on the pros and cons of the popular ones (you may disagree with me and find the cons to be pros, as long as this is helpful I'll be happy). There are more options that what is below. I've listed the ones I encounter most frequently.

I will help you set up a basic website template that you can then edit yourself to populate with your list, fun pages for personal projects or collection goals, and whatever else you want. I can set up dynamic menus, content managers, and make private/password protected pages through the Wix editor. I'm also willing to work in other editors but I haven't used most of them in years.

Wix
Pros:
-
Tons of customization option and lots of design freedom, but also many structured and template option to help keep things aesthetically pleasing and consistent.
 -
Ability to implement a content manager.
 -
Messaging system if you want added protection for your email.
 -
Personal favourite. I think you can make the most unique sites through Wix outside of building your own site.
 -
Lots of SEO settings if you want to have page descriptions when you link them.
 -
Once set up, maintaining is not very difficult.
 -
Blog feature.
 -
Have to "publish" updates so you can have drafts.

Cons:
-
Steep learning curve.
 -
A lot of integrated AI.
 -
Content manager has a 3000 item cap unless you pay, so it's not great for large collections (I use it to list my masters though as it's great for images).
 -
Limited options for nested (dropdown) site menus. Annoying to set up, as most things in Wix are.
 -
Pushes monetization more than Weebly from my recollection.

Weebly
Pros:
-
Very easy to set up.
 -
Can implement an item-counting system to display how many recordings are in your collection.
 -
Easier than Wix to make website pages un-searchable through search engines if privacy is important.
 -
Decent amount of SEO settings.
 -
Endless nested menu pages. You can go Alphabet -> Show name -> Continent -> Tour or any other number of nests.
 -
Favourite url look.
 -
Blog feature.

Cons:
-
Limited customizations option. You are locked into a template and don't have a lot of freedom to move elements around.
 -
Chance your site may get deleted, Weebly was known for purging sites some years ago, though I don't know of any recent cases.
 -
Personally found updating Weebly a bit more tedious than updating Wix due to all the limitations.

Google Sites
Pros:
-
Easy to integrate a Google Documents list without fully transferring everything to a website.

Cons:
-
Easy to make them look bad. I believe this is due to a lack of templates and design features in the editor and limited editing ability.
 -
Long and ugly url.
 -
No blog featue.
 -
Google.

Online Documents
Google Docs/Sheets, Word Documents
Pros:
-
Privacy: Easily revoke viewing access, remove downloading options, not searchable online, etc
 -
With a bit of effort, you can basically set these up to function like a website so it's not one text block.
 -
Easiest to update with real-time updates.

Cons:
-
Vary a bit based on which option you pick in terms of ease of use.
 -
Other traders can't find your list organically.
 -
Long load times for larger lists.
 -
Limited aesthetic options.
 -
Pretty or personalized URL? NO! 347890524780ncewrn98523c789hn2345cnui9p
 -
Will Doxx your name if you store them on your personal cloud service.

Static PDF File
Pros:
-
Same privacy pros as online documents.
 -
Can be directly attached to an email instead of uploaded to a hosting site.
 -
Easy to have multiple copies for different uses (such as omitting NFT recordings)
 -
Can be downloaded to bypass loading issues.
 -
Must be uploaded somewhere if you're trying to contact someone through a contact form or DMs.

Cons:
-
Similar cons to online documents as well.
 -
No real-time updates.
 -
Necessitates being one giant block of text, but some smart people manage to get hyperlinks to sections in there and use a Table of Contents.
 -
People can download/circulate the list without your knowledge.

Cardd
Or other "landing sites"
Pros:
-
Creates a "landing page" with contact information, links, etc.
 -
Solves some of the personalization limitations with online documents.
 -
Shorter URL than a raw document list.

Cons:
-
Must use some form of online document in tandem with this.
